Energy management includes a group of products, applications and services from the field of energy supply, transmission and consumption. These fields include specific fields, like smart home applications, etc., which cover specific customers' needs for smart energy use. The introduction of alternative energy sources and their clever use require new approaches to energy management. However, this field is much connected with information communication technology. The field of smart energy consumption and the use of renewable energy source is one of strategic goals of contemporary society and the preservation of the planet. We therefore expect strong growth in this market.
A simplified model of energy management is shown in the figure below.
Iskra MIS sees the possibility of expanding its programmes for offering solutions and services in those fields of energy management that have synergy with the existing programmes and knowledge in the company, and that expand the activities in the existing markets. However, the introduction of new programmes requires new knowledge and working methods especially in the field of development and marketing of new »products«. For this purpose, the existing business models and process organisation in the company shall be completely upgraded. It is mainly necessary to upgrade knowledge of a new Energy Management strategy.

Remote control of small power stations
The Internet application for small power stations and other generator sets located at places that are not easily accessible has been developed for remote control and operation via GPRS communication. In addition to the Internet application, we can supply the measuring, adjustment and communication equipment required for smooth operation. Our application
makes it possible to control and monitor the particular parameters of your power production unit over the Internet. An SMS message is sent to your mobile phone to alert you of any extraordinary events, thus reducing your costs by making it unnecessary for you to visit your Small power station and waste time.
Systems for operation of small power stations are again realized as turnkey projects.
- First, you let us know your requirements.
- Together we then design the appropriate solutions.
- The required equipment is then assembled according to your wishes and requirements.
- The application on the Internet server is set according to your requirements.
- We provide after-sale service as well.
Due to widely accessible mobile communications, the system is applicable for remote control at remote locations. It can
be used at locations that require measurement of electrical parameters and switching on/off of electric circuits, e.g. in:
- transformer stations,
- production of electrical energy from alternative sources,
- generators,
- etc.
The web portal control system is an Internet application that can be accessed from any location. In addition to setting of the MI 480 communication interface and gathering information on measurements and alerts, the application also makes a graphic analysis of the gathered data possible.
The measuring part of the system for operation of small power plants is a standardized solution featuring a single measuring center (two if required by the number of generators) and an MI 480 GPRS communication interface.

South East European industrial market (September-October 2007, issue 4/2007) (large file – slow download !)System for detection of cut transmission lines and of control transformer stations defects - LiSa ®
The system has been designed to detect defects in medium-voltage networks and transformer stations. Overhead lines with semi-insulated conductors are installed mostly for renovation of medium-voltage networks in the country where overhead transmission lines pass through forests and over difficult terrain. In addition to the advantages of semi-insulated conductors, the system has been designed to solve the problems resulting to a broken cable and, consequently, failure of earth junction protection that represents an increased risk for people and animals that can get in touch with a live wire. Our experts, in collaboration with the public power supply company ELEKTRO GORENJSKA and company C & G d.o.o., tested the system in the real environment where it had proven to be an outstanding solution.
The system can be used in medium-voltage networks and transformer stations to detect defects such as:
- broken overhead lines featuring semi-insulated conductors,
- other broken overhead lines (blank cables),
- detection of other defects in 20 kV networks,
- information on defects in transformer stations (contacts, high-voltage fuses, low-voltage fuses)...
The main components of the system are a measuring centre MC 760 and an MI 480 communication interface. The system is easy to assemble for it can be integrated in the existing TP switching unit, with the measuring centre at the same time being used to replace the existing pointer measuring instruments.
The network analyzer measures more than 50 parameters. It has 2 Mb memory and up to 16 alarms for sending information on a relay output and/or a communication interface.
The MI 480 communication interface is used for data transmission from measuring instruments, via the GPRS communication, to the web portal. SMS messages about exceptional events (alarms) can be sent to a mobile phone. A built-in GSM modem with a SIM card has 2 Mb flash memory for saving collected data and the RS 485 communication interface for communication with other devices in the system.
The web portal control system is an Internet application that can be accessed from any location. In addition to setting of the MI 480 communication interface and gathering information on measurements and alerts, the application also makes a graphic analysis of the gathered data possible.
The system installation is simple since it can be mounted in the existing installation cabinet.
